We’re about three weeks into the health/fitness/wellness program. Judging from what I’ve heard this program has been well received and our members are very enthused.
Thank you for that!
Not only are people visiting the exercise room regularly, we’re also paying more attention to what we’re eating. That’s a great thing!
I am very pleased with how well this program has been received by our volunteer members. It’s pretty easy for people to “not have the time” to exercise regularly, but our volunteer members have worked hard to make time to participate in the exercise program.
A number of folks are hoping to see weight reduction, which they have. It’s a great feeling to weigh less than you did the week before!
On the other hand we have those who didn’t need to lose weight. You lucky folks might be seeing a weight gain – all of it in muscle. Excellent!
A little forewarning at this point might be good. When we include the exercise component and the strength training, fat cells are converted into muscle cells. Muscle cells weigh more than fat cells, and the scale can’t tell the difference. So if you want to lose weight, but see the going slow that might be why.
If your weight remains the same, but you find your clothes are a little looser, that’s an indicator of improvement. Other signs of things going good are increased levels of energy and simply feeling better.
There’s also the “dreaded plateau” that everyone losing weight will experience. That’s where you’ve been losing weight progressively, but at some point you stop losing. When that happens, it is discouraging. Just “hang tough” and be patient. The loss process will resume.
An exercise program is also good for stress reduction/control. We see a lot of bad things happen in our business and we are caring people. That creates stress. So the exercise program is helping both physical health and our minds too!
Thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm and hard work! Please keep it up!
